Day 139-More Photoshop Experimentation

Hey there guys, today was another day of just experimenting with photoshop to see what I can do with it.

First off I tried doing this little energy ball thing like Frieza does.

Screen Shot 2018-05-15 at 10.16.32 AM.pngScreen Shot 2018-05-15 at 10.17.18 AM.png

In case you don’t know who that is, this is Frieza up above.Screen Shot 2018-05-15 at 9.24.56 AM.png

First off I started out by coloring the entire background black with a luminosity blend mode to make it darker. Than I created a new layer and used the ellipse tool to create a circle after that I started to add some effects to the little circle to make it look a bit more brighter. Than I went around the circle with a brush on linear dodge than color dodge on 50% opacity.Screen Shot 2018-05-15 at 9.27.42 AM.pngScreen Shot 2018-05-15 at 9.34.15 AM.png

After that I just took a picture of the sun and put on this picture above my finger. Than I went ahead started painting spots where I thought that the light rays would hit off of.

After that I started to just mess around on both photoshop and Illustrator.Screen Shot 2018-05-15 at 10.09.24 AM.png

For example I messed around with some layer effects for this ellipse.

Screen Shot 2018-05-15 at 10.09.10 AM.png

and came out with this in the end.Screen Shot 2018-05-15 at 10.25.47 AM.png

I also came out with this by adding in crystal texture with a multiply effect.

Screen Shot 2018-05-15 at 9.53.14 AM.png

This came out of Illustrator just because I was bored. I like it though so far it looks like I can draw little cartoon characters like this better than anything else.

Well that’s all I got for today but I will see you all on Thursday. I won’t be here tomorrow due to an awards assembly tomorrow at the high school. Sorry. Anyways I have to go now. Bye!!!

Day 138-Trying some Photoshop out

Hey there guys, Today I decided to try some of my photoshop skills out and see how well I was doing. So first of I decided to do something with my arm so first I took this pic using photobooth. Screen Shot 2018-05-14 at 9.55.01 AM.png

I also used the smudge tool a bit to get rid of some haloing that was happening.

Screen Shot 2018-05-14 at 9.56.39 AM.png

Next I used a chrome filter on a copied layer of my arm to get this effect right here. I also used a field blur filter on the background and my face to draw more attention to my arm

Screen Shot 2018-05-14 at 10.05.29 AM.png

Next I made multiple layers and then colored in the layers on top to get this effect here. I also used linear doge brush to brighten up the end of my arm. I have to give my friend Chloe some credit though, she has done something similar to this. Go check her website out.

Next I did something with my face which was actually pretty fun.Photo on 5-14-18 at 10.10 AM.jpg

This is the picture I used. Screen Shot 2018-05-14 at 10.32.29 AM.png

You can see that I ended up using the field blur again. Now I actually selected half of my face and then colored it in with the brush tool. Then I painted on the tentacles. I also took an image of the internet to create the fanged smile you see.

Now I have to say I think I did pretty well here. I have definitely gotten better. Well that’s all I have for today I gotta go. Bye!!!

Day 136-Photoshop Masking

Hey there guys. Today I learned a really interesting way to mask and select certain things by using the channels. The channels are the closest way to showing us what we actually see one step at a time.

Screen Shot 2018-05-08 at 10.30.12 AM.pngScreen Shot 2018-05-08 at 10.30.25 AM.png

This is what the RGB Mode looks like. This is what we see when all three colors are put together.

Screen Shot 2018-05-08 at 10.33.22 AM.png

This is what we see in the red channel. Interesting fact creatures that are red blooded will be brighter in this mode due to the fact that the red channel helps us see things in the red channel better than others.

Screen Shot 2018-05-08 at 10.38.02 AM.png

This is what we see in the green channel. As you can probably guess, things in the green channel become brighter if they are green.

Screen Shot 2018-05-08 at 10.40.36 AM.png

Finally this is what we see in the blue channel. Things that have blue in them or are blue themselves will become brighter in this channel.

Now what I didn’t know is that you can make masking a whole lot easier by using the channels.

Screen Shot 2018-05-08 at 10.09.20 AM.pngScreen Shot 2018-05-08 at 9.22.56 AM.pngScreen Shot 2018-05-08 at 10.09.12 AM.png

You can make selecting things a whole lot easier, and you can make things like this just by using the channels to make things easier for you.

Well that’s all I have for today but I will be back with more tomorrow. Bye!!!

Day 135-Photoshop Blurs and Filters

Hey there guys. Today I learned a lot about blurs and the filter gallery. IT was pretty cool actually.

First off I learned about the tilt-shift blur option.

Screen Shot 2018-05-04 at 9.30.57 AM.png

I had to use it to make this picture look like it was a tiny little miniature. Screen Shot 2018-05-04 at 9.37.16 AM.pngScreen Shot 2018-05-04 at 9.37.37 AM.png

After doing a couple of adjustments I managed to accomplish that.

Next up I learned about using the path motion blur which does exactly what it is named.Screen Shot 2018-05-04 at 9.38.23 AM.png

Here is the image that I had to use.

Screen Shot 2018-05-04 at 9.43.25 AM.pngScreen Shot 2018-05-04 at 9.43.44 AM.pngAs you can see you can use the path motion blur to create the effect that you see here

Screen Shot 2018-05-04 at 9.44.57 AM.png

Than by using a gradient layer on the mask you can clean it up a little

Finally I learned about the filter gallery which allows you to come up with some pretty neat effects. Screen Shot 2018-05-04 at 10.02.21 AM.png

This image was the guinea pig for this experiment.

Screen Shot 2018-05-04 at 10.05.57 AM.pngScreen Shot 2018-05-04 at 10.16.50 AM.png

First off I used a photocopy along with a graphic pen filter.Screen Shot 2018-05-04 at 10.07.02 AM.png

That it was allowed me to get this effect that you see here. Welp that is all that I learned for today. I’ll be back next week with more amazing things to show you. Bye!!!

Day 134-More Photoshop Lessons

Hey there guys. I didn’t have to go to career center today so luckily I was able to learn a lot of new techniques.

First off we are gonna start off where I left off, which was learning about making awesome twirl art.

Screen Shot 2018-05-01 at 10.28.45 AM.pngScreen Shot 2018-05-02 at 9.04.48 AM.png

First off I had to flip the art so that it would be asymmetrical. To do that I had to make copies of the entire artwork and then after that I had to group the copies together.Screen Shot 2018-05-02 at 9.04.57 AM.png

Next after applying opposite values to the twirl effects of the copies and using a different blend mode I was able to come up with this.Screen Shot 2018-05-02 at 9.10.19 AM.png

It looks pretty cool doesn’t it. You can create a lot of different effects with though just by messing with the blend mode.

Screen Shot 2018-05-02 at 9.10.44 AM.png

Next I learned how to change the artwork itself by replacing the image.

So by double clicking on the smart object I was able to replace the image from beforeScreen Shot 2018-05-02 at 9.17.29 AM.png

with this one

Screen Shot 2018-05-02 at 10.30.36 AM.png

and here is the effect that it had on the entire artwork.Screen Shot 2018-05-02 at 9.17.54 AM.pngScreen Shot 2018-05-02 at 9.19.09 AM.pngScreen Shot 2018-05-02 at 9.22.00 AM.png

As you can see it changed the entire image completely. It really is amazing in my opinion.

Next I learned about displacement maps.Screen Shot 2018-05-02 at 9.28.58 AM.png

I was supposed to transform this image by making a displacement glass that would make the image look like ribbed glass.

Screen Shot 2018-05-02 at 9.28.41 AM.png

So first off I had to create a new document that was the exact same size as the previous file.

Screen Shot 2018-05-02 at 9.30.58 AM.pngt

Then by using the gradient tool along with the rectangular Marquee tool I had to create this little gradient map right here.

Screen Shot 2018-05-02 at 9.35.57 AM.png

After that I had to duplicate that gradient tool by using a placement source and pressing command+shift+alt T on the Mac or Control+Option+Shift T on a PC.

Screen Shot 2018-05-02 at 9.34.55 AM.png

After that I used a displace filter option and I was able to create this little effect right here.

Of course with a little adjustments here and thereScreen Shot 2018-05-02 at 9.40.59 AM.pngScreen Shot 2018-05-02 at 9.40.49 AM.png

You can create awesome effects such as this one that you see here.

After learning about displacement maps I then delved into learning about blur filters.

Screen Shot 2018-05-02 at 9.49.30 AM.png

First off I had to take this image that was provided by the exercise files and make one adjustment before starting out with any blur filters. Screen Shot 2018-05-02 at 9.50.08 AM.png

I had to make that little canopy bright spot brighter.

Screen Shot 2018-05-02 at 9.51.26 AM.png

Next I used a field blur to make the background more blurrier to add in more depth perception.Screen Shot 2018-05-02 at 9.58.50 AM.pngScreen Shot 2018-05-02 at 10.00.11 AM.png

Then I added in some more field blurs to the dinosaur to make it fit in with the picture more.

Screen Shot 2018-05-02 at 10.01.42 AM.png

I also learned about this awesome little thing in the channels panel known as a depth map which allows you to see just how much blur is on certain spots. The more black there is the less blur is on that spot and vice versa.

Well that is all that I have got today but I will definitely be back with more tomorrow. Bye!!!

Day 133-Starting Photoshop Mastery

Hey there guys its me. Now I know I said that I would start the Illustrator Mastery Course but after taking a look through it, I discovered that it wouldn’t really offer me anything that I needed to know. So I browsed through the photoshop mastery course and lo and behold there was lot of useful stuff. So now you can join me on my journey through photoshop mastery.

So far all I have learned about was using different smart filters.Screen Shot 2018-05-01 at 9.42.07 AM.png

First of was using pointillize which basically makes a picture appear like it was created with nothing but hundreds or millions of dots.Screen Shot 2018-05-01 at 9.43.19 AM.pngScreen Shot 2018-05-01 at 9.46.16 AM.pngScreen Shot 2018-05-01 at 9.46.22 AM.pngScreen Shot 2018-05-01 at 9.48.24 AM.png

After stacking different pointillize options and then using different blending modes for each one this is what came out. Now I have to tell you the effect that pointillize has on your painting depends on what color you have as your background color. Of course you can also add texture to your photo with all these dots by using an emboss feature.

Screen Shot 2018-05-01 at 9.55.09 AM.png

Screen Shot 2018-05-01 at 9.55.13 AM.png

As you can see this adds this stone like effect, but after doing some small adjustments.Screen Shot 2018-05-01 at 9.55.29 AM.pngScreen Shot 2018-05-01 at 9.55.33 AM.png

You can get this grainy like effect right here.

Next up was learning about high pass.

Screen Shot 2018-05-01 at 10.02.02 AM.png

First off I had to start out with this picture.

Then by using the high pass filter along with a gradient map I was able to create this effect.Screen Shot 2018-05-01 at 10.01.49 AM.pngScreen Shot 2018-05-01 at 9.59.59 AM.png

After applying a little gradient map and stacking another high pass effect I was able to refine this effect. Screen Shot 2018-05-01 at 10.05.24 AM.png

Finally was learning about using zoom blur and twirl.

Screen Shot 2018-05-01 at 10.23.25 AM.png

First off I started out with this effect. Then after a couple of zoom blurs and using a slight twirl.

Screen Shot 2018-05-01 at 10.23.32 AM.png

Screen Shot 2018-05-01 at 10.23.40 AM.png

I was able to come out with this effect. Then after doing some stacking and using a mezzotint effect.Screen Shot 2018-05-01 at 10.28.16 AM.png

I was able to do this. It is pretty cool looking it also gives me some pretty cool ideas of my own. Well that is all that I learn today, but tomorrow I will be back with more. Bye!!!
